Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Child support

My child support order isn't effective till 12/07. Until then is the NCP father required to pay support for our child? If he doesnt provide support till order I would like to file criminal child abandonment every 30 days.

Re: Child support

Why did the child support order not take effect until 12/07? Under Georgia law both parents are required to support their child(ren). If a parent goes for more than 30 days it is abandonment. However, if the father is providing insurance, purchases clothes, etc. he has not abandoned the child(ren). I really cannot answer the abandonment question without understanding why the underlying order did not require him to immediately pay support.
