Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

child support in paternity suit

a friend recently learned he may have fathered a child fourteen years ago. He and the lady lived in the same town all these years. when the child was conceived, the lady was seeing one other man. The woman claimed the child belonged to the other man who signed the birth certificate and paid support for several years before DNA determined he was not the father. She has since named my friend as father and has filed suit. DNA has not yet been established, but if so, will he be responsible for back child support? She waited nine years before filing suit, and did not ever mention to my friend about paternity of the child until three years ago. Once he was served, he offered to pay support and offered health insurance once paternity was established, but she declined.
