Child Support
My x husband has not seen or called about our son sence Feb. 97. He has been paying chils support throgh income deduction and sent to myself. I just got my last check on 3-19 with a note attached stating he quit his job. What can I do about my new husband of 1 1/2 yrs adopting him. He never paid shild support on his own that is why I had to get it takin out of his check?Remember he hasnt called about, sent cards, or seen his son sence 2-97.

It certainly is an option to have your current husband adopt your child. This is most easily done if the natural of the father agrees to the adoption (which will relieve him ofthe duty of paying future child support, but not past due chld support). If the natural father of the child does not consent to the adoption it may be possible to have his parental rights terminated involuntarily, depending on the factual circumstances of the case.
