Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Child Visitation
my girlfriend has an eight yeard old daughter. she has full legal custody of her. the father has not paqyed shild support and now after several years he has decided to serve papers for visitation, wants to pay child support, the mother can not move with out notifing him first, there is clause after clause.
we live in the state of georgia i and was under the impression that if the non-custodila parent has no contact for 12 months or more that they can lose thier parental rights and can not be granted visitation rights.
this is her only child and she has been the only parent for the as of now eight years.
the parents were never married but the child does carry the fathers last name.
the father only does this when it suits him or to stir up trouble. the last time he saw the mother was about a year maybe a year and a half ago. at which time he started demanding to see the child. that's the only time he has any concern is when he sees the mother. any information will be very appreciated on this matter.
thank you ,

Re: Child Visitation
If the child was born in the state of Georgia out of wedlock, the father cannot visit the child until he legitimates the child. Legitimation and visitation cannot be done together and the mother should object to this. In the legitimation proceeding the mother can object to legitimation at that time. The assistance of counsel will be needed, so she should contact a local attorney immediately.
