Approximately 10 years ago I had a baby out of wed-lock. After departing that relationship, we went our separate ways but remained friends for our child. Three years ago I filed for support for our child without receiving back pay. Last week he serverd me with Legitimation for joint custody, liberal visitation, Order of Paternity and Rule Nisi issue. Please expain. What are my rights by Georgia Law? Please give me the site numbers. Since my funds are limited I would like to Answer myself.

Re: Complaint for legitimation

Your question would require more information to answer, but filing a timely answer is vital.

While there is no substitute for a lawyer at trial, in some such cases, unbundled services (coaching and help with pro se pleadings) is better than going it alone and would be fairly inexpensive.

Feel free to call me at 404-768-3509.

Re: Complaint for legitimation

Basically, the father is attempting to have the child legally recognized as his child and then asking the court to set visitation and support. I would recommend you hire an attorney, but it is not required.

If you would like to discuss any issues further, please feel free to contact my office. My contact information is below. Thank you.
