Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

contempt charge

My ex-husband filed contempt charges on me for being late on child support. We already go through the state to whom I pay the payments to.By the time I recieved the complaint from the sheriff I had already paid the child support in full. Now he still wants me to pay for his attorneys fees.

If I answer to this complaint do you think I will have to pay his attorneys fees?

Thanks,Shannon

Re: contempt charge

Probably not, but you should answer the complaint anyway, stating that you have already paid the arrearage. (If you don't answer, you may get a default judgment against you.) If the amount involved is significant, you should at least consult a local attorney about your course of action.
