Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Contempt of court charges/ child support

My son is presently in jail on contempt of court charges due to non payment of child support. No one will tell him when and if he will be released since he has absolutely no means of paying it.

The court will not provide him with an attorney because he isn't in on criminal charges. I think being jailed is as criminal as it gets myself. Rapists, murderers, etc. all get release dates. Not knowing has left him hanging in limbo. If he had a job, he wouldn't be able to keep it, not knowing how long he's to be held. Any suggestions?

Re: Contempt of court charges/ child support

He is in jail for CIVIL contempt; thus, no appointed attorney. Someone needs to retain an attorney at least for the purpose of checking with the folks at the courthouse to see what can be done.
