Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Contempt and nonpayment of Child Support

My ex (wife) hasn't paid support since August of 08 because we went to court and she was found in contempt. She paid one time, then hasn't again. She owes the kids almost $12000 in arrears. CSE doesn't do anything. What else could an attorney do to her? I understand you can't get blood from a turnip, but if the tables were turned, I could almost guarantee I'd be in jail by now for not paying her. I don't mind retaining an attorney if there was a way it would make her pay (doesn't have a job, or works under the table)

Re: Contempt and nonpayment of Child Support

If she has gone 30 days without paying, you could, without counsel, go to magistrate's court and seek an arrest warrant for abandonment.

If she has a job or assets, and you think some of the money is collectable, it may be worthwhile to meet with a lawyer.
