Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Another Continuance by soon to be ex

After 25 yrs of marriage I am in the process of divorcing my womanizing-husband. I had also filed a TPO but he lied to the judge twice and had the hearing continued...I then had to dismiss the case because I could not afford to miss more work.

Our divorce trial is scheduled for the end of March and I am afraid he will ask for a continuance on this also. My attorney has gotten frustrated with my husband's antics and seems to have lost interest in my case.

My question is this: is there a way for me to be sure my divorce will eventually happen? This has been dragged out for almost a year even though he is at fault. How long could it take if he keeps filing for a continuance? Please help, thanks!

Every case eventually reaches some conclusion, be it final judgment or otherwise. No one here could possibly answer your question as they have not seen your file. You should be asking your own attorney (and no other attorney can ethically advise you since you are already represented in court).

You should demand a meeting with your attorney and be there with written questions. You should tell him/her that you are either satisfied or not with the answers. If not, you should fire that lawyer and get another one in whom you have confidence.
