Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Court order not filed, is there a statute of limitations on a lawyer filing?
It has been 6 months since we went to court and the other attorney has not filed the papers with the court. Is there a time limit on this?
Also, our lawyer has not returned phone calls or emails, we think that something fishy went on in court (our case was never heard, the judge and attorneys made the decision in his office) Is this common and is there something we can do about this?

There is no time limit but it surely should have been taken care of by now. I would send the attorney a certified letter stating that unless he/she contacts you within, say, 10 days, you will contact the State Bar of Georgia. It is not unusual for attorneys to meet in chambers with the judge to announce a settlement, but it should always be a settlement with which the client has agreed.
