Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Court ordered paternity

After being divorced for almost 10 years, I have just learned that 2 of ''my'' 3 children may not biologically be mine. I have been paying child support, without interruption and without challenge for all 3 children all this time. This, despite years now of very limited access and very infrequent contact, and despite my pleas and ongoing efforts to be a part of their lives. It has now come down to a court custody battle - and this is when the issue of the 2 children was made known to me by a third party. Can I insist on a paternity test, and secondly, if it is proven that I am not the father of 2 of these children, can their mother be sued for the support I have paid for children that are not mine? Thank you for your help.

Re: Court ordered paternity

Your concerns are understandable; however, no lawyer can accurately assess your best options without discussing all of the information with you and then doing some independent investigation. Employing an attorney is your best option at this point. Call me if you would like to discuss what this entails.
