Is it possible to get the first court proceedings of a divorce moved to a later date like an extesion, or something.

That is up to a judge, and generally would be done only for cause. The main cause would be a court conflict by a lawyer, or a medical emergency. Not being ready is usually NOT cause. You need to ask your attorney who will know the very different procedures each judge uses in these cases.
