Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Crazy accusation!

I am getting ready to divorce my wife. We don't have any assets together other than the house. I am giving her the house. My concerns are that she is accusing me of being a petifle. How could this affect my divorce? She has three children. There has never been any incident.

An accusation such as the one you mention is not something for this message board. You need to get an experienced lawyer (one who handles such cases as a primary part of their practice - not just any lawyer who offers to handle it) to immediately try to stop all such accusations. Once accusations get out, they could affect your employment and other things, true or not.

Since you are about to file for divorce, in most counties you can get, at the time of filing, an automatic Standing Order (or Mutual Restraining Order, depending on the verbiage in your county)which is a court order, which, among other things, prohibits each party from making disparaging remarks about the other. While not a perfect solution, since you can't unring a bell, her conduct can be addressed in the course of your divorce. It is important that you get an attorney knowledgeable in this area and who can make sure your rights are protected.
