Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Custodial obligation
My wife has a 4 year old daughter from a previous relationship, and the relationship between her ex and me is very contentious. The contention is due to the fact that I do not yield to his demands as he feels I should. For example, I let him know that calling our home at 7am on weekends will not be tolerated.
Currently, the situation has deteriorated to the point that we've decided that I will not attend public events that he plans to attend. Foregoing these events circumvents potentially embarrassing situations for all involved.
Our question is, what events does the non-custodial parent have a legal right to be involved? My wife would like to have me attend some functions, but is afraid that she will be violating his right by not informing him or inviting him to all events.

Re: Custodial obligation
The answer will depend on the agreement or order governing their custody and visitation rights, but such agreements typically provide that the custodial parent is obligated to notify the noncustodial parent of all sports activities, school activities, plays, concerts, games, etc. I suggest you consult with a family law attorney to have the agreement/order reviewed to give a more specific response.
