Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Custody of a child

My wife and i currently support our 3 yr old grandchild 100 percent including food, clothing, shelter, care and everyday needs. The child's father lives in the house, doesn't give the child any attention, let alone any financial support, is not employed nor will he attempt to be, and creates problems within the household using the child to stay, threatening to take her if we evict him. We would like to get custody, but he would never agree to it, yet won't do anything for the child. Is it possible to get custody of the child?

Re: Custody of a child

You MAY be able to get a guardianship. Consult with a local attorney. You didn't mention anything about the child's mother; her rights need to be considered also.
