Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Custody Circus
My mother-in-law has legal custody of my 15 year old step-daughter and is turning custody of her over to her daughter (my wife's sister). From 2001 up until a month ago she lived with my wife & I, but ran away to her biological fathers' house after I found her boyfriend spent the night in her room. She thought that she could hang out there and wound up being picked up her grandmother. We want to regain custody of her but she's in GA and we're in VA.
History: We lost custody family court in 2000 when the judge in the case gave custody of both her and our son to close out an issue when we were trying to regain custody. In 2001, she gave them back to us without any court action where they had remained until this incident.
