Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
My daughter, Cherokee cty Ga, has been a faithful homemaker for 31 years but abused by her husband and turned to alcohol for the past 18 months ( a DUI) and had an affair for the past 3 months. Her husband filed for divorce. If contested is she likely to get alimony.

Adultery likely will prevent alimony. But with a 31 year marriage she will likely have various rights and she needs a lawyer.
She has the right to an equitable portion of marital assets. Alimony is likely unavailable due to her infidelity, She needs professional legal representation.
Alimony is not likely, but in Georgia property is divided on an equitable basis. You should make her aware that "contesting" a divorce does not have to be expensive or quarrelsome. The two parties can often negotiate and reach an agreement that serves both. She needs to hire an attorney that can protect her rights. Many lawyers, myself included, offer a free consultation.
