Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Hi, my daughter married on 2/8/17. She is 20. Her husband has just turned 19. He left for BMT Air Force on 4/11/17. Prior to him leaving he stole $10,000 from us (her parents). This is all going through the local police dept. They are to be or already have contacted Lackland to start the legal proceedings of having him arrested for this. Of course there is a long way to go to the end of this. My question is, since this has been a short marriage, no children involved, is this something that would qualify for an annulment or divorce?

Based on what you posted, annulment is unlikely. The length of a marriage is irrelevant and a crime against a spouse's family is NOT grounds for annulment. You don't need grounds for divorce, so it's also simpler than annulment, and it has the potential to adjudicate financial issues that may not be addressed by annulment. Do NOT do this with "forms"and do NOT proceed without a lawyer. His being in the militarypresents a potential barrier to service and also a basis under federal law to delay a case and a lawyer wil navigate through those things. Good luck. (BTW, most Georgia counties do not even have forms, although about 15 of 159 do).
