Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Debt after a break-up

I lived with someone for 6 years, during that 6 years we lived in an apartment for two and then bought a house. When we bought the house we broke our lease by two months - the apartment complex set us up on a payment schedule and we paid the balance off in approx. 6 months. Now he is getting phone calls from a credit agency stating that we never paid the amount in full and he is threatening to sue ME!?! Can he do that?

Re: Debt after a break-up

Debt collectors often use unethical and illegal tactics. You should consult with a local attorney knowledgeable with the Fair Debt Collection Act. You may be able to get an injunction against further harrassment.
