Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Definition of neglect of a child
Divorced for one year and been seeing a boyfriend who lives an hour away. I have 2 daughters age 17 and 14 and a son age 9. My ex says that since I stay over at my boyfriend's apartment I'm neglecting our son. He might sue me for being an unfit mother for leaving my son with no adult supervision. I believe that my oldest daughter is mature enough to take care of everything for one night. And that I'm always a phone call away, there is no issue about neglect. I have a very open relationship with my kids. Is my ex- wrong?

Re: Definition of neglect of a child
I think you are OK. I agree that your daughter is probably mature enough to take care of things. However, to be safe, I would consult with a local attorney to see how your judge(s) is/are reacting to similar situations.
Re: Definition of neglect of a child
I can't say if your ex-husband is "wrong." He has the right to seek to have you declared unfit if he has proper reasoning. However, from the facts you put in your posting that sounds very unlikely.
