Re: devorce

It's "divorce."

While divorce appeals are rare and expensive, they can occur. Both appeals and motions for new trial are possible routes, and neither is a do-it-yourself project. Very rarely are appeals in divorces successful. Expect to pay thousands, or tens of thousands of dollars, for the simplest of appeals.

Bear in mind that appeals will almost never change factual rulings, such as the amount of support, property settlements, grounds for divorce, or even who gets custody. Unless you can show a significant erroneous ruling of law, expect a court to affirm the trial court. Even if there is a reversal, usually the case then gets retried before the initial judge.

In almost all cases, appeals must be filed within 30 days of final judgment. Appelate law is complex, and this is only a general summary that may not fully apply to you.
