Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Distribution of marital debts

Is there a guideline for division of debts accrued during my marriage of 15 years? Most of these are credit card debt, used by myself and my husband, but not all are listed as joint accounts. He wants to take no responsibility for any accounts that are listed in my name only. I have been a stay at home mom for the past 8 years and am currently looking for work, but can't afford to repay alone, the debt that we incurred together. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Distribution of marital debts

The judge may order that the marital debts be split in half. It matters not whose name is on the account as long as the debts were incurred during the marriage. Please contact my office for further consultation on the matter.
