Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

division of marital asset

My divirce was final in feb 08. It was an uncontested divorce. I was left with house and the mortgages. There is a first and second mortgage on the home. The decree states ''Husband to pay Wife the sum of $20,000 for the interest in marital residence within 24 months of this dateto be secured by the marital residence.'' The question is with this verbage if te house forecloses or does not make a profit do I still have to pay her $20,000?

Re: division of marital asset

Next time hire a lawyer. DIVORCE IS NEVER A DO-IT-YOURSELF PROJECT. That's so sloppy that you will both likely need a lawyer and courts to figure out what you meant. The question you asked would have been properly addressed had you used a lawyer.
