Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Divorce & Alimony
Been married 8 yrs. Husband previously diagnosed as alcoholic, did not drink for 10 yrs. He's been drinking about a yr now. I've suffered financial and verbal abuse. He earns about $6,000 a month and issues me $600 a month for my bills, leaving me with less than $50 a month to live off of. Recently discovered he's selling drugs and having affairs. {I have no idea about drug money}. I need to move out of house but if I leave he will not give me any money for my bills and I can't afford to move. I've been unemployed for 3yrs. due to health related issues. I want a divorce and alimony. How do I proceed?

Re: Divorce & Alimony
It sounds like you might not be able to afford NOT moving out (at least for now). By staying around, you potentially risk HIV or other STD he has picked up from affairs, hookers or needles. You risk getting caught with drugs in the house, and often drug use leads to violent (or more violent) behavior. There may be shelters in your area, or local churches that might be able to point you in the right direction. Lawyers who handle such cases might also be a help, but the time is not while he still is employed (drug users tend to be bad employees and get fired). You are not doing either one of you any favors by staying.
