Without seeing all the paperwork in your case, no lawyer here can answer you. Before signing (or not signing) anything, it is extremely important to have a lawyer look at everything. That will help you determine what, if anything, you should (and should not) do.

Yes. Only your own attorney can look out for your interests. Your spouse's attorney has a duty to try to work out the best possible circumstances for your spouse. By employing an attorney, you have a legal representative who will do the same for you.
