Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I need a divorce but don't know where he is.

The basic facts:

We married on Feb. 22, 2003. He left on Feb. 26, 2003. I have not seen him in over four years.

We were married in Gatlinburg, TN. We lived in Macon, GA. I have lived in Loganville, GA for four years. He still lives in Macon, GA.

I know I can get a divorce by publication but I am a bit confused concerning how to go about it.

Would I have to run it in the Bibb County paper (where he lives)? Or the Walton County paper (where I live)? Or the Gatlinburg paper (where we were married)?

Do I have to have an attorney or can I file on my own? I don't have much money so if I could do it myself that would be best.

After I run an ad is the divorce automatic or do I still have to file something with the court?

Could anyone possibly give me a ballpark idea of how much this will cost?

I know I am asking a lot of questions but I have tried to look up divorce by publication and I haven't been very successful at finding any answers on my own.

I just want to be able to close this unfortunate chapter of my life and no longer have this stupid youthful act hanging over my head and affecting the ways in which I am able to live my life.

Thank you for any and all help.

Your post is based on not knowing where he is, yet you say he still lives in Macon, Georgia. Either way, your post reflects that you clearly need a laywer to handle it for you.
