Re: Divorce decree

A divorce does NOT release you from loans. It MAY give you a right to sue a party that violates the divorce order. However, those rights can be modified in a bankruptcy. If your spouse has filed bankruptcy, it is very important thaat you see a lawyer very quickly, as in some cases you may be able to file in the bankruptcy court to try and prevent him from discharging certain debts. Bear in mind that bankruptcy or not, if he doesn't pay, the creditor can chase you.
