Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Divorce

Hi, I currently live in the state of Ga, my husband in SC.We resided in Sc our entire 18 year marriage. I would like to file asap, as we have been separated since Sept. I know, or at least I think I do..that one must be a *bonafide* Ga resident for 6 months before filing can occur. No custody or property to be considerred, as our children are 16 and 13 and he and I are allowing them to edcide where to live. Safe, loving environment in both homes. Can you believe it, an friend;y divorce?? Please tell me if I am allowed to file in Ga or do I have to take it to SC? My lease reads Sept 27, 2007.

Re: Divorce

You can file here if you know how to handle certain issues. You should obtain an attorney because your children are still minors, which means that there are procedural hoops that will need to be handled properly in order for the court to enter a divorce decree.
