if I was married to an illegal alien lived together for 4 months but then he left and went back to mexico and I haven't seen or heard from him for 6 years can I claim abandonment or do I need to file for a divorce

There is no such thing as "claim abandonment."

Unless you want to be married to him forever, you have to get a divorce.
