Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Divorce problems

I have a friend who is currently going through a divorce. Him and his soon to be ex wife have 2 children together. They have had 2 trial dates, but everytime it gets within 2 weeks of the trial, she asks for a continuance and it gets granted. Is there any way my friend can get a court order put on her to make her sign the papers to get his divorce over with? He thinks she's stalling because in Feburary, they will be married 10 years and that means she gets half his military retirement benefits. He also has leverage against her proving that she was cheating, and comments that she has made stating that she won't give him the divorce until she gets everything she wants. What can be done?

Re: Divorce problems

What can be done is he can discuss his case with his lawyer (and if he does not have one, he should get one). Pending cases are not handled on a message board, through a friend.

Re: Divorce problems

He needs to be asking hislawyer these questions. No, he can't force her to sign, but, with sufficient money and effort he can push a case towards trial (although that can take a while).
