Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Divorce
I've been separated from my wife since 10/31/01 and served her divorce papers in April 2004. She refused to acknowledge receipt, even when the Sheriff's office served her. It's now 3 years later, does she have any claim for spousal support? We have not had any contact since then, nor do we have any minor children entitled to support.

Re: Divorce
Is the divorce final? Need more info.
She doesn't have to acknowledge receipt. She has received personal service when the sheriff hands her the docs. The clock starts ticking at that point and she's got 30 days to answer. If she doesn't, then you can go to court and ask for the divorce. It only take one person to get a divorce.
