Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

divorce

I told my husband I want a divorce. He told me if I go through with it he will kick me and our 4 kids out, turn off everything in the house (all bills in his name) and sell our mobile home. What can I do to stop him from doing this to us? He is the one who cheated on me.

Re: divorce

Consult with a local attorney. In most counties, you can get a "Mutual Restraining Order" or "Standing Order" (it's called different things in different counties). This can be obtained immediately upon the filing of a divorce. Its purpose is basically order that the status quo be maintained until the court can hear from both parties.

Ignore what he says. Get a lawyer and you'll find that things may go better than that.
