Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Divorce

My divorce was uncontested (and unwanted). I signed the papers without reading them. It is final now, and I just received my copy, which I read. The date of marriage is incorrect. Is the divorce legal?

Re: Divorce

The date of the marriage in the pleadings would not be a fatal defect. If the divorce was otherwise okay, it doesn't affect it (and if you had wanted to complain about it, which wouldn't have changed the outcome either, you would have needed to do so while the case was pending).

How could you have signed divorce papers without reading them? It's too late for you, but for others here, always read EVERY document before signing, and if it's important, ALSO run it by a lawyer.
