Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Domestic Partnership
My partner and I have been together for 5 years. We have a house that was purchased about 3 1/2 years ago in both our names. He wants to move out now and stated that he felt he should only have to pay his portion of the mortgage payments for a maximum of 6 months while the house is up for sale. Anything after that he feels is my responsibilty.
Legally isn't he responsible to pay his half of the payments no matter how long it takes to sell the house? Or if I choose not to sell doesn't he still have to make his payments? If he does stop paying and I do have to take over the entire payments will I have to take him to civil court? And if so is there any reason I might lose? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Domestic Partnership
Each of you is responsible to the lender for the entire note. If one of you doesn't pay the other has to. It's not a 50/50 thing. The bank can sue either or both of you for the payments.
