emotional abuse help child is 15

My brother is 15 and lives with my mom, I am 25 and married now- she was emotionally abusive to my other brother and i. He is now placed in a behavioral health hospital for trying to committ suicide. No one seems to think my mom is a problem. I have spoken w/ DFACS counselors. They do nothing. She is awful, but puts on a good front and is in counseling but does not admit she has a problem. How can I get him away from her? Can he leave when he is 17 without her permission or can we do it before then? His dad ( my ex-stepdad) is not married and living with his girlfriend and not trying to get custody at this time. I want him out of there before he hurts himself. Please help!

There are a couple of options, including filing a petition to adopt him or a petition for you to be appointed as his guardian. You should consult with a local attorney. If you are in my area, feel free to give me a call. I don't charge for initial phone consultations.
