Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

ending child support payments

My daughter lives in Georgia. The wording of her husband's divorce decree follows:

''The husband shall make the following payments to the wife: the husband shall pay to the wife the sum of $90.00 until said child marries, dies, attains the age of eighteen years or becomes self supporting, whichever is the first to occur.'' No mention about being in school or if she goes to college.

The child will be 18 years old on 12/9/06. None of the other parts of the above statement has occurred. Can the father legally stop paying child support as of her 18th birthday ? What action should the father take? He pays the child support directly to the child's mother, not through the court.

Thank you for any help.

Re: ending child support payments

If it's paid directly, he would just stop paying once the child was 18.
