Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I was engaged up until last week. My fiance gave me a diamond of his mother's and had it put into a setting at the jewelers that cost him 600. The ring was appraised at 4000 with the stone and setting. Last week we broke up, and I gave him the ring in an envelope he picked up from my workplace. My secretary at the front desk gave him the envelope (sealed by me) and remembers feeling the ring in there. He lost it somewhere between going out the door and going to all the places he went to that day, as he opened it right out of the door. Now he says I owe him half of the price of it. What is my responsibility if anything.?

You do not have a legal problem at this time. Unless he sues you, ignore him and move on with your life.

If he sues you, it sounds like hehas a weak case, but at that point, talk to a lawyer.
