Establishing Residency

We are involved in a custody battle and the father has to establish residency in this area, what exactly does this mean? Does staying with his grand-mother qualify?

Whether he satisfies residency requirements in the area depends on the facts. He should do the typical things a person intending to establish a residence. E.g., register to vote, get a drivers license, certainly be able to show that he does not intend to return to the place of his previous residence, get a job in the new place, etc.
