Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
family law- legal gardianship
Regards to my stepson's (j) half brother (T). T and his mother (my husb exwife) moved to my town (Ga) from Texas supposely to be closer to my stepson - J , while she was going thru a divorce and enrolled T in school here. After only being here about a week, she decides to go back to Texas. T and Mom argued because T didnt want to go back to Texas and she just leaves him in a nearby town and goes on to Texas. T called his grndparents to pick him up and he stayed there thru the weekend. My stepson was informed about the situation from T and his grandparents. J my stepson asked if he could stay here with us since he was enrolled in school here. He is staying until school is out which is in 2 weeks and then will go to his grndparents for a few weeks. We want to give T time to decide if he wants to stay here or go back to Texas if he works things out with his mom. She has not called only talks to T when he calls and most of the time she never answers. What legal right do me and my husband have if we are not blood related and want to have him here with us and his half brother? What steps should i start with?

Re: family law- legal gardianship
You have no custodial rights until a court gives them to you. You will have to initiate a custody action and you will need a local family law attorney to handle that for you.
