The father of my child filed for legitimation and custody.What exactly does that mean?

It means you had better get a lawyer - today - as you only have 30 days to answer.

He is seeking to be declared the father, and either plans to take the child away from you (or to get visitation), and could potentially end child support (or get an amount set for you to pay him, or set the amount he pays you). It may not mean all those things, but it is a change in your life that will go badly for you if you do not get a lawyer.
