Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I want to be a Father to my child.

Mom A skipped town two years ago, and I had no idea she was pregant. I am not sure if the child (now 2 yrs old) is mine. The first time I heard from Mom A, was two months ago, informing me that a child support case had been filed against me. I have recently married, and have a child on the way. I have tried at length to get a physical address from Mom A, in order to send a DNA test. Mom A will not give me the address, and simply threatens that she will soon be ''getting a check'' from me. If this is my child, I want to be a good father. I have a court date soon, how do I approach this? Will I have the opportunity to tell my side? Will I be given the chance to raise the child if she is mine? What are my options. I tried contacting the different agencies, but they give me no direction or info? I want to be a good Father, not just a check. I feel like the cards are stacked against me?

You need to retain a good local attorney. There is too much at stake for you to try to handle this yourself, no matter how much advice you might receive in a forum such as this.
