Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Father Giving Up Rights

I have been divorced 3 yrs during all this time my ex has managed to keep my daughter from me for one reason or the other. We have gone to court 5 times and it is still the same ole thing it is either an excuse why she cant come or constant harassment the time that she is here. She has never let the child have anything to do with me or any member of my family

I ask her for a paternity test and she went totaly buserk !! (this was because this would answer the questions above)and because she did have a affair with the man she is now married to.Now she wants me to give up my rights or she will see to it that they are terminated and belive me she will. SHe has put our daughter through hell !! and I wont stand for it any more. Do I still pay child support if I give up rights?

Re: Father Giving Up Rights

If she petitions to terminate your parental rights, and you consent, your child support obligation will cease. However, the termination is permanent, so please exercise extreme caution and seek counseling before doing this.
