father rights
If me and the mother take signed voluntary legitimation forms to a judge with a written plan for custody and visitation would it be honored without a court hearing and do we need to hire a lawyer to do so

You need a lawyer to make sure it is done correctly. Depending on the county and the paperwork you may or may not have a hearing.

The judge will probably approve it without a hearing IF (and this is a big IF) all the I's are dotted and the T's are crossed. You should at least consult with a local attorney.
