Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

My ex is going to fight me for custody of our daughter.....what do I do?

My ex and I split up several years ago when our daughter was almost 2 (She is 5 now). Things have been fine until recently when I applied for child support services. He had been paying 75/week just out of the goodness of his heart, but he makes much more now than he used to (at least 1200/week). Upon finding out the approximate amount of child support he will have to pay he has decided to fight me for custody. When I asked him why he is doing this over money his response was ''how many times have I picked her up and she is wearing dirty clothes?''. First of all, he never picks her up, his fiance does and it is usually when my daughter has been outside playing. She's 5, of course she gets dirty playing outside! This is not always the case though, and I think he is just grasping at straws for a reason to take her from me because he doesn't want to pay child support. He has always said that I am a good mother and has never had a problem with the way she is treated until now. I know I am a good mother and he can't prove me unfit, but I am worried about the outcome since he has a lot more money than me. I have a medical condition and can't hold a job so my husband is the only one working. Does he have a chance? What should I do now?

You do not have a legal problem at this time. Someone saying they may file something has no impact on your custody, and it only worsens your health to even think about a non-event like that, as people say that all the time.

If he actually does file, immediately see a lawyer at that time.
