Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

What to file in Court

I have a deposition scheduled with my ex's attorney. I want to file something in court so I don't have to go. What do I need to file? My ex originally file a contempt and I answered it and then he got a litigation attorney.

A deposition is a formal pretrial proceeding that is completely legal and enforceable. Most individuals do not attend a deposition without an attorney to represent their interests, since the statements made there can be used in the actual trial. Your best option is to hire an attorney to represent your interests. My firm does divorce work. Please do not hesitate to call if we might assist you.

Assuming you have valid legal grounds, you can file a Motion for a Protective Order. However, you probably don't want to undertake this without the advice of a lawyer. It is impossible to explain all your options in this type of forum. Consult with a local attorney.

You're in need of legal counsel.

As a general rule, a party can't avoid a deposition. The attempt to avoid it could cause you to be sanctioned or ordered to pay attorneys fees absent good legal cause for the attempt.
