Can I file for divorce while in the middle of bankruptcy, or do I have to wait until we have a discharge?

Sure you can. It may be a horrible idea for many reasons, and create irreversible damage, but legally you can. Obviously, this is a question you discuss with your bankruptcy lawyer AND divorce layer.

You can, and it may be a great idea or a disaster. In some cases you should do the divorce before the bankruptcy, in some cases during and in some cases after. The answer depends on your assets, and what is happening and will happen in the divorce.

I assume you did what was important already and hired a good lawyer (and ideally one that also is well versed in both divorce and bankruptcy). Assuming you did, he told you already whether to do the divorce or bankruptcy first and whether you should wait or not.
