file for a years support

My stepmother filed a petion for a years support against the estate, my father pasted last year.What does this mean? and how does it effect the will as far as property being left.

Years support comes ahead of a will. It will usually mean that some or all of the property that you expected to pass under the will won't, and will go to his wife. No one can answer you further without reading the will and years support petition and you likely need to have a lawyer at this point in time available to assist you. Time is very critical and if you miss deadlines your rights will possibly be affected.
