Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
i just filed for child support of my son. his father has him half the time, like equal custody, bt not legalized. its just something we worked out on our own. So the order has been put in, we havent been to court yet. he cant afford an attorney to go and tell them he has him half the time, but every lawyer he's talked to has told him the same thing that he will get the max regardless without a lawyer to fight for him. i dont want him to pay the whole amount because he does keep him equally and is a good father to him and i dont see it as fair. my question is- what can we do to ensure he only has to pay half of the usual amount alotted? should i go to court with him? we still have not been to the first hearing or anything. neither of us can afford lawyers, so we want to know what we can do or say on our own behalf.. is that possible?

If both parties agree and your amounts are reasonable, he can probably file a civil court case (possibly a legitimization). This is really not a do it yourself project and with an agreement the fees may not be extensive.
