Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I filed a divorce, the defendant filed her Answer and Counterclaim, the court sent me the time/date stamped copy.

3 weeks later now I get a new Answer and Counterclaim but this time from an attorney she hired. I called the attorney and he said he did not know that his client had done that.

So what now? Doesn't the first one count?

I suggest you get an attorney to help you through the process and figure out your next steps.

First of all, if you don't already have an attorney in a contested case, you are about to go to a gun battle, where the other side has real bullets and you have a 99 cent water pistol. Answers and counterclaims can be amended. The second one counts. And of all the things you could have done, the very worst was to call her attorney. NEVER call the other side's lawyer. Again, get counsel ASAP.
