Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

final decree

When I divorced 10 years ago, I only wanted out of my marriage. Unfortunately I signed to a settlement agreement and a final decree was ordered that I now regret. I have had no contact with my former spouse for several years and do not know her location. Can a final decree be amended? Specifically, can a court ordered survivor annuity and a stated percentage of my federal retirement be changed? What are the chances of successfully challenging the award?

Re: final decree

Child support, custody and visitation are modifiable. As a general rule, property settlements (which include what you asked about) are not, although no one could give a full answer without reading your agreement.
